1. Optimise Your LinkedIn Profile Headline

Your LinkedIn headline should make it clear to employers who you are and why you deserve their attention. Consider what an employee is searching for when you craft your headline. This will help you determine what terms and phrases to include that’ll help your profile climb to the top of employers’ search queries. 

Keep your LinkedIn headline short. You can include up to 220 characters in your headline. Ideally, your headline will entice those who see it to click on your profile and learn more about you. 

Focus on what you bring to a potential employer in your headline. This helps you explain your value proposition and explain why a company should consider you for a role. 

2. Fine-Tune Your Tagline

Like your LinkedIn profile headline, your LinkedIn tagline can help you differentiate yourself from other job candidates. With your tagline, be brief and use terms and phrases that prospective employers will easily understand. When in doubt about what to include in your tagline, err on the side of caution by keeping things simple. That way, if a business finds your profile, your tagline will give the company a good idea about what you’re all about. 

Your tagline can also describe how you resolve problems. For example, you may use your tagline to explain how you help a particular audience address a specific issue. Even though your tagline may be just a few words, you can illustrate how you can help a company. This may lead a business to explore your profile and reach out about jobs where you may be a great fit.

3. Get Recommendations 

To make your LinkedIn profile stand out, get recommendations from other industry professionals. When potential employers view your profile, they can see what others in your sector have to say about you. These recommendations may convince an employer to connect with you and keep you up to date about career opportunities. 

Don’t hesitate to reach out to past employers and industry colleagues to request recommendations. With each request you send, you may be able to add a recommendation to your LinkedIn profile. Over time, you may have dozens of recommendations that help show why companies should hire you over other candidates.
