To ace your interview, consider what administrative job questions you may get. Common questions that employers ask when they meet with administrator job candidates include:

  • What administrative software and technologies do you know how to use?
  • What skills do you feel are most important in this role?
  • Can you describe a challenging work situation and how you handled it?
  • Why should we hire you?

At the same time, recognize your weaknesses. No job candidate is flawless. If you are asked questions about potential weaknesses during your interview, acknowledge them. Then, focus on how you are doing everything in your power to transform your weaknesses into strengths.

Regardless of how you feel about an administrator job interview, follow up with the person who met with you. Send a thank you note within 24 hours of your meeting. Use this note to let your interviewer know you appreciate the opportunity to discuss the role with their organisation.

Keep an eye out for updates following your interview. If a week passes and you have not heard back, send a follow-up message to your interviewer. And if your interviewer asks for another meeting or submits a job offer, respond as soon as you can.
